LENTEN Reflection. Day 28 Theme: components of a good Marriage.

1. Mutual respect, Respect means that each partner accepts the other partneras he or she is, not trying to manipulate but unselfishly niurishing the partner in such a way that he or she may become the person God intended. Respect distinguishes between the ideal and the real, and does not demand too much." Each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. ( Ephesians 5:33)
2. Genuine commitment, The marriage vow says,"Forsaking all others" The Bible says " For this reason man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh"( mathew 19:5) Time and experience in marriage reveal that being onenflesh does not mean abdication of personality or personal rights rather it is a fulfillment of these things.
3. Good communication, For genuine communication, there must be understanding of the emotional, mental and physical differencies between men and women. There must be companionship. "I'd rather be with my spouse than with anyone else" There must be conversation not only a discussionof differencies qhen such arise but a meaningful exchange on the intellectual and emotional levels.
4.Time and effort. Love must be given an opportunity to mature. The climate for this is set  in God's Word. When the going gets rough, the doesn't just " fall out of love" they stay together and work things out. They don't consider themeselves as MArtyrs of a " bad bargain", but heirs together of the grace of life. ( 1 peter 3:7) Each one of you also must  love his wife as he loves him self and the wife must respect her husband. (Ephesians 5:33)
Beloved, problems and differencies are resolved through forgiveness, Be kind and compassionate to one another , forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you. ( Ephesians 4:32)
Cliff Barrows  often gives a message to Christian couples whicn he calls " Words whicn qill safeguard your marriage
1. I was wrong
2. Forgive me
3. I love you
4. Am sorry
5. Please
6. May i
7. Thanx you.
As couples you must learn to clean up issues as soon as they develope and to erase the slate everyday. Ephesians 4:26.)
5. Spiritual unity. Its important to know that a Family that prays together sticks together.
N.B. The perfect marriage is a uniting of three persons. A man, a woman and God!!. That is what makes marriage Holy. Faith in Christ is the most important of all principles in building of a happy marriage and a happy home. Blessed day. Be supportive and encouraging to each other.

Lenten Reflection Day 27: Changing the heart by prayer

We have learned that the heart is the "wellspring" of life and that transformation in our lives comes when our heart is submitted to the worship and will of God. When our heart is changed, our lives become changed. One thing that changes our hearts most dramatically is prayer. From the beginning of His ministry untill He was about to go to the cross, we see Jesus in dependent prayer to His heavenly father. More than anything else, He desired to obey his father and so He guarded His heart through prayer. In Luke 11:1--13 Jesus teaches and models for His disciples the importance of prayer in changing our hearts and in moving the hand of God.

Prayer changes our hearts, in verse 2--4 Jesus describes our attitude in prayer.
We honour Him
We desire His will
Obedience to His will is our greatest joy.
We trust Him and we are repentant (1 John 1:9)
We forgive others and resist sin Galatians 5:16.

PRAYER MOVES GOD'S HAND  in verse 5--13. Jesus explains that God responds to prayer.
1. When we are bold to pray
2. When we persistently pray.( Luke 18:1--7)
1 John 5:14--15. Says when we pray according to His will, He hears us. When our hearts are submitted to His will and Worship and we ask what He desires, then we have confidence that He hears us and will give us what we ask for. EPHESIANS 6:18-20 Encourages us to pray all time. We should pray about challenges we may face, so that we are prepared to handle them when they come. And we should pray for God to enable us to boldly speak the gospel to others, for the sick and our enemies. As we pray in these ways, our hearts are changed, our minds, bodies and relationships come under His control and God's hand is moved to act according to His perfect will and our greatest joy.
Memory verse. 1John 5:14. And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He will ear us. May the Lord change your heart towards Him. Shalom

LENTEN Reflection: Day 26. What is the message of Nothing Is Impossible with God?

What is the message of Nothing Is Impossible with God?

No matter what we are going through right now, no matter how impossible the situation may seem, no matter how helpless or hopeless we may feel, we should remember this, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD.

God’s power is infinite. Therefore, we should have faith in Him, Notice verse 37 and let the words sink into your hearts and minds: “For nothing will be impossible with God.” Do we believe those words? Or do we limit God and what he can do? Do we think that there are things that are not possible for God to accomplish? Do we pray to God as hopeful wishes, thinking that God cannot do what we are asking him to do? Essentially, I am asking you what God you are worshiping. If we are truly worshiping the Creator of heaven and earth and all creation, then there is nothing that God cannot do. By definition, God has the power to accomplish anything. It is not a power problem for him.

As God asked Moses, “Is the arm of the Lord shortened?” (Numbers 11:23). Is there something God cannot accomplish? We must change our thinking to believing that there is nothing that God cannot do. We see this thinking reflected in the lives of God’s people through history and throughout the scriptures. God can change the outcome.

God is all-powerful. Imagine if God were to come to you and tell you that a miracle was about to take place in your life. Perhaps a miracle like Mary’s or something else that breaks the laws of the universe, would we believe it could happen? I think our first response would be that we don’t have to worry about that because God has not done anything like that for 1900 years. But that is the thought I want you to work with because it has been a very long time since God had acted in the lives of his people in the days of Mary also! It has been more than 400 years since God spoke to the people. It had been more than 400 years since a prophet of God had walked the earth. It had been more than 500 years since a true miracle of God had occurred, with Daniel in the lion’s den. Further, miracles had not regularly occurred since the days of Elijah and Elisha, nearly 800 years previously. Let us not think that miracles were regular occurrences that were readily accepted. Mary had to believe that all things were possible with God. Mary had to have the mind that God can do anything that he says.. Jer.32:27.

LENTEN Reflection day 25: Let Not My Enemies Triumph Over Me

Let Not My Enemies Triumph Over Me

The Bible clearly explains that there enemies in life.No matter how good or godly you may be, you will surely have enemies who hate to see you make progress and enjoy the blessings of God.

Enemies generally wage a war against all sorts of people. When an enemy arises up and comes up with wicked plots, you need to raise up and make him bow in defeat. As a child of God, you should not allow your enemies to triumph you. BELOVED. when you fight fervently ,your enemies will not be able to overcome you. Isaiah 54:17. No matter how the enemy attacks your more than a victor.

Use the following

1. Duetronomy 28:13

2. Psalm 27:6

3. Proverbs 21:1

The one in you is stronger than the one in the world. Yes. You are mortal.

Lent Service at Jjanyi Mother Mary Junior School

This Friday evening 28th March 2024, Christians of All Saints Jjanyi Church of Uganda gathered at Mother Mary Junior School Jjanyi for the evening Lent Service.
The Service was led by the Lay Reader Kenneth Lule and the sermon  was by the Lay Reader of  St. Paul Church of Uganda Nakigalala  Polycarp Kakooza.
In his sermon, Mub. Kakooza thanked Mr. Ssebaggala the Head of Laity for organising the Lent Service. He was sad to note that some people are not fasting yet they are warming up to celebrate the Resurrection Sunday.

He based his sermon on the theme "Where art thou?" (Oli luuyi wa?)
He challenged  the congregation whether they have ever known that they are 'naked'. He said that these days people are behaving in acts that show that they are spiritually naked and when they realise it, they never accept their sins.

He said that the world became sinful because Adam and Eve refused to repent of their sins before God. He said that some people decided to get out Church using some simple excuses that "obubbo bwayitirira mu kkanisa" but God has given us this Lent season to repent of our sins and then return to Church.
²
He said that Zachaeus knew his problem and climbed on sycamore tree to see Jesus until Jesus noticed him and called him to come down. He said that people need to use the Zachaeus approach to see Jesus and repent of their sins so that they too can recieve salvation before Jesus. "You need to position yourself so that Jesus sees you and handles your issues" he said.

He said that during this Lent season  people need to be able to calm down and listen to what God is telling you.
