LENTEN Reflection day 24. Theme: Renewing the Heart.Jeremiah 17:9.

What is the heart?
Proverbs 4:23 says,"Above all else ,guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life". Like a deep well that provides water for the garden, our hearts are the source for all the other aspects of our lives. Our hearts are the place from whicn two important things flow. .our worship and our will. We worship what we value or love in our hearts, whether it is God or an Idol. We also exercise our will or make decisions in our hearts. Thus , our hearts are the primary influenceof all we think, feel and do.
Unfortunately our hearts are sick because of our sin and rebellion aganist God Jeremiah 17:9 " The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately  sick, who can understand it? Because the heart controls everything else, a sick heart results in a sick life characterized by untrue thinking, sinful living and  broken relationships. As James 1:13-15 Describes, sin begins when we are ruled nu our sinful desires rather than the desires of God for us. This leads to temptation whicn eventually leads to sin and death. In other words, a wrong attitude in the heart leads to wrong beliefs and emotions whicn lead to wrong actions. As we all know unless our heart is restored, brokennes in the heart results in brokennes in our mind, emotions and actions and relationship as well. So how do we have a restored that leads to a restored life.
1. We must have a new heart psalm 51:10. May the HolySpirit renew your heart with hope.
2. We must repent and submit to the will of God. When David cried out to God in repentence and submission of his heart to Hod's will, he recieved Mercy and vleansing. 1 John 1:9
3. We must refocus on Worship God. The result of David's repentence is , he was free again to worship God with offerings and testimonies from a heart of Joy. Be quick to confess and returm our hearts to God
Today ask God to help you keep and gurad your heart. Proverbs 4:23

LENTEN Reflection day23. DEALING WITH FEAR PSALM 56:3

DEALING WITH FEAR PSALM 56:3

Fear is an unpleasant emotion that arises in response to perceived dangers or threats. Fear causes physiological and psychological changes. It may produce behavioral reactions such as mounting an aggressive response or fleeing the threat, commonly known as the fight-or-flight response.Fear arises with the threat of harm, either physical, emotional, or psychological, real or imagined. While traditionally considered a “negative” emotion, fear actually serves an important role in keeping us safe as it mobilizes us to cope with potential danger.Fear. One of the enemy’s most popular weapons that he uses against us. Worry, anxiety, fear…can overwhelm us with a thick shadow of darkness, controlling our every move and decision.

So much crazy going on around us today - wars, conflicts, persecution, violence, crime, natural disasters, terrorism, economic uncertainty, unemployment, divisions, disease, death. We fear for our children’s future, we fear for our families, we fear for our financial future, and we fear for our safety. The list goes on…long. There actually is a lot we could potentially worry about.

Yet reality tells us that so much of what we spend our time worrying about never even happens. Living under the weight of the "what if's" is a hard place to dwell. So, what does God say about fear? The answer is pretty simple, do not be afraid for He is with us. May we rest in the words of Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” We can overcome fear by recognizing God's presence, trusting in His sovereignty, bolstering our faith, and embracing His love, we can overcome fear and live a life marked by hope, …psalm 56:3. May God give you Grace to overcome your fears.

LENTEN Reflection day 22: New life by Grace.

What is new life in God's kingdom like?

New life by Grace
Yesterday we learn't that we become new citizens in God's kingdom by confessing our rebellion aganist Him and trusting in Jesus Christ for forgiveness of our sins. When we believe in Jesus Christ, His Spirit makes us alive again. We are born again as a new person and the old person we were has passed away. 2 Corinthians 5:17. After accepting Jesus as our Lord, we have a new identity as children of the king and a new culture as citizens of His kingdom.

HOW ARE WE TO LIVE AS NEW PEOPLE (Ephesians 4:17--32) we put off the old self and out on the new self. Our old self was without understanding of God, and our hearts were hard toward Him. As new people in the kingdom we are to on a new self which is in the likeness of God.Our new self is characterised by a renewed mind, believing and speaking truth to our neighbours not sinning in anger. Working hard to provide for our selves and families. Living as a new person is a gradual process of change over time. So how do we begin to live like a new person in God's kingdom?

1.New beliefs. Object old beliefs that are deceitful and take on a new life whicn are true and right. Learn to depend on God to help us walk in the new life Galatians 2:20. By faith we must believe that our old ways of life is dead and gone and that we have a new way of life because Christ lives in us. Depend on God to help u put off and put on. In this Lent put off garbage and put on righteousness.

2. New actions. We have an active role to play 1Timothy 4:7 . As a new citizen try to practice living differently than we did before. Work hard to develope new habits and train our selves to put old habits aside. 2peter 1:5. In this season of LENT how different are you? What bad habit do u need to put off Ephesians 4:24. As a child of God put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and Holiness.

LENTEN Reflection day 21

New birth by Grace. JOHN 3:1-18

How can a person be born again?

1. Being born again is by faith in Jesus Christ alone. When we encounter the Gospel, the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin and warns us about God’s judgement ( John 16:5--9) We come to understand that even if we are a religious person like Necodemus, we have fallen short of God’s glory and face eternal death because of our sins. However, God offers us a gift of eternal through the work of Jesus Christ on our behalf. (Romans 3:23, 6:23) When we repent and believe in Jesus’ death and resurrection for the forgiveness of our sins, God puts His Holy Spirit in us, who cleanses from sin and gives us new life when we believe in Jesus.( John 3:5-6)

2. The HolySpirit guarantees new life. Ephesians 1:13--14.N.b. The Holy Spirit not only gives us new life, but also “seals” us for that new life. This means that the Holy Spirit acts as a guarantee that this new life whicn has begun by faith will one day be fulfilled in heaven.

3. Being Born again is a gift of God. We can’t inherit eternal life from our parents ,they are all humans born with sin Romans 5:12,Religious rules only help us understand God’s righteousness but cannot save us Romans 3:20. Baptism is a symbol of our being cleansed from guilt but the water itself cannot make us clean 1peter 3:21 and living a good life is the fruit of being born again but it doesn’t make us alive. Only the gift of God’s grace saves us when we put our faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection Ephesians 2:8--9.

4. When we are born again as a new life 2Corinthians 5:17. The old is gone and the new has come. When a person is in Christ, you becomea new person with new life under the Lordship of Christ Jesus. You get new life with a new Spirit, a new hope, a new mind and a new allegiance us birthed. We call this our new identity in Christ. We become new people who have a growing desire to Know Christ and walk in His ways.
